Brother Savala Swanson, Sr., was the son of the late Riley and
Lillian Lee Swanson. He was born in Anderson County on June
28, 1909. He attended school in Palestine, Texas under the principalship of the late A.M. Story. At an early age he confessed Christ and united with the Antioch Baptist Church during the pastorage of the late Reverend D.J. Crawford. He married Miss Myrtle Boyd on February 15, 1930. To this union two children were born. He departed this life on Thursday, February 18, in the Anderson County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Swanson is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Boyd Swanson of Palestine, Texas; one son, Mr. Savala (Tom) Swanson, Jr., of Jacksonville, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Swanson Carter of Palestine, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. |
